Read each question carefully. Despite bold print highlighting, 98% of technicians did not understand that the point of a question regarding motor control was to calculate the delta currents in a wye-delta motor starter.

Know your electrical calculations inside and out. 79% of technicians missed a question that required the calculation of capacitance with kvar, voltage, and frequency given.

Study up on NETA standards. 79% of technicians missed a question regarding MTS specified tests on AC motors.

Understand lighting arrester voltage ratings relative to system grounding methods. 75% of technicians missed a question on this topic.

Be knowledgeable on transformer neutral grounding resistors. 70% of technicians missed a question on this topic.


Note: 44 technicians took the NETA Level 3 exam in the spring of 2000. 16 passed.
