Thermal imaging is used by what type of overcurrent protective device (OCPD)?
a. Thermal-Magnetic
b. Oil dashpot
c. Digital/microprocessor
d. Air Dashpot

Answer: C. Digital/microprocessor
Digital and microprocessor-controlled OCPD employ thermal imaging to mimic thermal memory that is characteristic of thermal bi-metal breakers.

I guessed at this and got it right. I do thermal imagining and I know a microprocessor is needed to process the image.

Can someone give me an example of an OCPD that uses thermal imaging? A manufacturer or part number?

The answer seems to refer to a thermal model, not an image. Perhaps I just don't understand the wording.

The function thermal imaging is not the same as say using a camera with thermal imaging. A couple of SqD functions utilizing Thermal Imaging to determine the cooling effect of the conductors:

The control unit uses the calculation of a thermal image to evaluate the conductor heat rise and precisely monitor the thermal state of the conductors.
