Gonna use a 200kv Phenix hi pot to test done high voltage breakers.

Any advice?
Haven't started yet but never used one this large.

Sounds like fun, make sure you are meeting the clearance requirements and using corona suppression. Lastly, be safe and try to minimize the light show.

If the set trips off it may not necessarily be the device your testing.

If you have an issue: (Maximum output is 50mA) I believe. Keep your output lead as short and as corona free as possible. You may have to get creative if there is to much leakage current. Such as wrapping 10awg wire around 2" dia PVC pipe to create a output lead that looks like a "Slinky" or use a pipe or 4" laundry duct to make the connection to cut down on leakage. An AC test set only has so much power available so leakage should be as minimal as possible. Depending on your test specs also keep an eye on your duty cycle.

You may get lucky and just hook it up and be good to go.

Well easy peasy. No issues. Ran a bare copper to the specimen and tied other poles to ground with bare copper and ramped it up to 200kv for 5 minutes no problem.
Thanks all
