Classification

The ETT Assistant Level II can perform limited testing and service work while generally requiring direct supervision.

Candidates must have sufficient knowledge and experience to be qualified for assuring the safety of him/herself.

Safety knowledge includes an understanding of lockout/tagout procedures and requirements, arc-flash and shock hazard analyses, and other facets of hazardous electrical energy control procedures.

Requirements

NETA requires that candidates have two years of related experience in the electrical testing industry, a minimum of 40 hours training in safety, and 160 hours of training related to the certification elements listed in this guide.

This experience will have to be verified by your employer by using a form similar to the one found in Appendix A of ANSI/NETA ETT-2010. Individuals must also pass an Electrical Testing Level II examination administered by a certifying body as defined in the standard. Try our practice exam to see where you currently stand.

Candidates are expected to complete sufficient training to become familiar with the principles of the electrical testing industry, the practices of the applicable electrical testing techniques, and necessary safety requirements applicable to Level II.
