Careful not to get width and depth confused.
Width of Working Space.
The width of the working space must be a minimum of 30 in., but in no case less than the width of the equipment.
Depth of Working Space.
The working space, which is measured from the enclosure front, must not be less than the distances contained in Table 110.26(A)(1).

Unless you have an engineer who has a electrical closet not big enough to swing a door open with an ATS and 2 subpanels in it

What about for around battery banks? Do you measure from the front of the rack or the back of the rack?
