What is a simple and reliable method to locate harmonic sources ? And what are the strategies for mitigating harmonic distortion problems?

Using a power quality meter would probably be beneficial. Record for a couple weeks to measure harmonic content. Look at equipment upstream known to cause harmonics like UPS systems or computers.
