Hey, trying to figure where you guys are pulling oil samples to proof test the drum contents?
Thinking it is 1/3 or 2/3 down, but shouldn't be on the bottom?
Thanks,

Paul Gill book chapter 4, page 211 states:
Sampling oil from Drums or shipping containers
Drum should remain undisturbed for several hours before drawing the sample. A glass or Pyrex thief is recommended for sampling because it can be easily inspected for cleanliness. A glass tube approximately 36" long, 1" on diameter and tapered at both ends is recommended.
Discard first thief of oil.
Draw the sample in the following manner:
With the top end covered with the thumb, lower the tube to within approximately 1/8" from the bottom of the drum.
Additional information can be found here. It discusses the specific gravity of oils/reason to sample from the bottom.
