Cleaning Generator Windings

I recently saw a question on a level 3 practice exam asking what test method was used to clean windings, the choices were
1) oil
2) corn cobs
3) vaseline
4) fine emery dust

has anyone used any of these?

I personally have never used corn cobs (and none of the others since they would just cause more problems). We always used DI water, rags, <20psi air and a filtered suction fan.

Cleaning may include simple wipe down, solvent spraying, dry ice blasting, dry media blasting (corn cob, walnut shell, etc.), steam cleaning, or some combination.

I just came across this question on the practice test and answered Corn Cob. It was wrong and pointed me here for the correct answer.

Does anyone know what the actual answer to this question is?
