Just wondering how many of you guys are using infrared laser thermometers in the field? They do wonders for getting temp readings on apparatus when correcting insulation test values. What other cool uses have you found for these?
I have done IR scans quite a bit now (been testing since October.) Have the next two weeks set aside for it. Gets boring after a while. One time I had a master electrician who was escorting me around say “just so you know, we can’t turn anything OFF” ... one part I don’t get is about five percent of the circuits I have scanned so far have been energized, sometimes it seems like the customer just wants a sticker.
